Heat Strengthened Glass

Overview

Heat Strengthened Glass is a semi-toughened glass that has been heat-treated to improve its strength and thermal resistance compared to regular float glass. While not as strong as fully tempered glass, it is approximately twice as strong as annealed glass and offers greater resistance to thermal stress. When broken, it tends to crack in a web-like pattern but usually remains in the frame, providing enhanced safety without sudden shattering. It is ideal for applications where strength, stability, and minimal risk of spontaneous breakage are required—such as facades, structural glazing, skylights, and laminated units.
